Vanishes
In the age of digital imagery, where artificial perfection bombards us from social media, emerges "Vanishes" , a work that explores the consequences of our obsession with cosmetic touch-ups and digital filters. Through a poetic metamorphosis of vanishing food, the artist invites us to reflect on the relentless pursuit of an unattainable ideal. In this pursuit, every touch-up, every filter, every surgery, distances us from our identity, transforming us into puppets of the beauty industry. We become pale copies of an impossible beauty standard, losing sight of our essence and origins.
The collage, composed of photographs with varying levels of luminosity, prompts us to ponder the futility of the incessant quest for perfection. Each photograph, each step towards clarity, brings us closer to the object's very disappearance. The aperture, a tool in photography that allows for capturing more light, here becomes a symbol of the fleeting nature of physical beauty. The void left at the end of the collage represents a space of infinite possibilities. It is an invitation to break free from the shackles of gender and materiality, and to embrace our individuality with liberty.
