In the mirror I meet others.
A reflection on our own identity and the authenticity of the image we perceive of others and of ourselves
This series is about the expectations that are created around everything that our ima-ge conveys. Even if, sometimes, that image is far from reality. The clothes, the pose, the language and all the paraphernalia that we construct to look like something or to resemble someone.
The mirror generates a transitional space where the real becomes an illusion, a subjective space of representation is created, which makes us believe that the reflection reveals the true identity of the fruit in the front, when it appears out of focus, thus hiding its true ‘self’.
What do we really see when we look at someone? Sometimes I don’t even recognise myself.
We are used to a quick reading of our identity. We are used to codify ourselves accor-ding to the established norm. In this way, others can quickly define us and know how to treat us.
